I'll put 20 people average looking Americans in a room wearing three piece suits. 3 of them will have a gun. You must pick these three people out on the first try or those with the guns are going to shoot you in the head once.
Now.... Do you think you can do it?
That's Iraq right now.

First of all there is no way to know if you weren't there. Of the people I know who've seen combat in Iraq (Army and Marines) none of them have come home with any especially disturbing stories, but if you'd committed war crimes would you tell anyone?
You do need to understand that there is a difference between war crimes and collateral damage. Collateral damage is unavoidable like when a civilian gets caught in a crossfire whereas a war crime is a deliberate act.
Vietnam left this country with guilt that lingers to this day. The media is terrified to say an unkind word about the military because they are afraid of repeating the mistakes of Vietnam by demonizing the troops.
The administration has been hearing criticism from the left comparing Iraq to Vietnam from the start of this war. The last thing they want is for stories from Iraq to start mirroring the atrocities of Vietnam. So what can't be covered up gets buried to the back of the newspaper.
Of course there are those in the media who would jump at such a story (and the media these days seems to have almost abandoned fact-checking) for the sake of selling papers and boosting ratings.
I don't want to even speculate as to what's going on over there since i haven't been there. We may never know exactly what's going over there right now.
I will say that if anything like that is occurring it is most likely a very small percentage of our troops.

Wow, there are a couple of real independent thinkers on this answer page. Soldiers deserve to die because we are cowards and refuse to obey orders. That is quite possibly the stupidest comment i have ever heard. And to you, 99% of american soldiers have the highest ethics in the country. We live by a code, and that code is about honor, do you even know the meaning of the word honor. We don't go out to kill civilians, but when the people we are fighting hide in crowds of people, behind women and children, it is bound to happen. We do everything possible to not harm civilians. If you want to think that way fine, but to some of you people on here, just need to shut it, or leave the country.

I really hope you are not an American. What media outlet are you watching that is so pro US soldiers? Please give me your sources which show evidence that the US Army is "doing terrible with civilians". Wait! I get it. You almost tricked me. You are the media. Keep stirring the pot.
By the way, what kind of freedom are your "freedom fighters" fighting for. The kind of freedom where they have the right to intentionally blow up civilians, including children, to prove there cause. That sounds fantastic. Let me know when they get there way, I'll buy your plane ticket so you can go live in that fantastic country they are fighting for.

First off, where did you get such info? It's combat. Civilians can get killed in the crossfire. But to say that we do it intently is just unfair. It's true that some soldiers have poor ethics and are plain dumb and stupid. But that doesn't mean that ll of them are. The Reality is that a huge majority (about say 99%) of our troops have a good understanding of things and stay on the straight path. The doing of a few always impacts more than it's supposed to. An ingrown toenail bothers not just the toe, but the entire body as well.
Another thing is, the enemy hides amongst the locals. They do not wear any uniform, nor do they have any leaders, mandates, ethics and laws to follow. Their objective is to kill anyone - as often and as many as they can. They kill in the name of Islam. We only shoot back.

We still remember the cheering in the streets by milliions of Islamic people of all types when the Twin Towers fell.
Who are you kidding? Only someone in a nearly news blacked out, freedom hating area could really believe that. We get news from all over the world, INCLUDING pro-Islamic channels.
What do you watch? What channels or stations are allowed in Islamic countries? You really want to talk about bias in the news between Islamic countries and the largest force for freedom of speech in the world?
Your comments are silly. Educate yourself.

Come out from under your rock and pay attention to what's REALLY going on. The INNOCENT people getting SLAUGHTERED by the HUNDREDS are being MURDERED by their own countrymen. A few weeks ago, Shia and Sunni college students were waiting by a bus and an IRAQI blew up him self and over 100 students and wounded many others. One of your so called FREEDOM FIGHTERS drove a car into a market place and blew it up killing men, women and CHILDREN who were playing nearby! When an innocent civilian is killed by foreign soldiers, it's by mistake. Contrary to what your pea brain is telling you, our troops do NOT go out hunting innocent men, women and children. IRAQIS are killing them. You said, "MANY AMERICAN SOLDIERS ARE VERY POOR IN ETHICS." I wonder how many AMERICAN SOLDIERS/SAILORS/MARINES/AIRMEN you personally know? Do you always make unfounded statements by talking outta your hind parts?
Actually, the media RELISHES reporting anything one of our troops does wrong, but seldom do you see or hear about the humanitarian acts MANY of our troops are involved in. So, before you make yourself look more foolish than you already have GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!
Freedom fighters don't murder innocent men, women and children... FROM THEIR OWN COUNTRY!
Obviously you're some foreigner who thinks all American telephone numbers start with 555!

because is the facade of your country , they are all paranoid and with a reason ! the question is why do they have to be like that in first place, they are been manipulated for the one reason ...POWER. there's a saying that the finality justifies the means ... finality power , means suffering of u.s. people involved direct and indirect(wives, mom's ,etc.) at war.
it's just like vietnam u.s. soldiers killing children because they are afraid ,so they accidentally shoot anyone ,it's not their fault ,they just want to live , it's the goverment ,the ambitious man, the supremacy of power and so on.
