Good question and in my view all the answers seemed to me to miss the boat. Oh yes I do agree the parables are talking of using ones gifts properly but I am of the opinion it is much deeper and simpler than that.
When does one have anything?
One in my view may think he has something when he takes stock of himself or his life and seem to be satisfied because he thinks he has so much. However I am of the opinion that one can lie to himself so much that he will start to believe his own lies and then accept them as the truth.
One only starts to get something when he accepts he is nothing but a piece of dust and of no value at all. When one accepts this and the fact he will only have value or anything if in fact it is give to him by God alone, then one can start to have something. Without this even what one thinks he has will be taken away from him.
My friend one must give up all and surrender to have anything at all. It is not in using the talent, it is inbeing a worthless piece of dust, accepting it, the surrender, and then asking God to make you of value. You see is is not what you can do for yourself. I ti not in the words that God helps those who help themselves. It is in the words that God does it all and one must accept that and believe it 100%.
Yes that is my opinion as a "NO" the only "NO" I do know. So smile, surrender and let God give you everything by seeing the pure truth. Do not try to do it with your talent, for then it will all be taken away.I did not say become a "NO", OK. I am not trying toget converts or others to joiun me. I just want other to think and to find the constantly consistent truth.

It was talking about seek and you shall find referring to knowledge of the bible and the truth about God and Jesus.
So those who study and learn the more they learn the closer they get to God. In other words the more they have.
Those who do it with a half hearted approach and it is not the big thing in their life. Soon forget even the little bit they did learn about God. So end up with a spiritual void.
You see people all the time become worse after leaving God for the worldly things.

Luk 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
Are you talking about the scripture noted above? (this one means that the gifts that GOD gives us puts us at higher accountability) If you are talking about the one concerning the talents, then that particular one means that we are to be out working to increase the kingdom with our lights shining instead of "burying" said lights like the talent in the parable was.

For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. Matthew 25:29 NIV
You have sort of quoted the KJV.
To read in context please read Matthew 25:14-30.
It is basically saying those with more will do more to achieve more than those who have little and hold it close to them not letting go of it.

It helps to use a Bible written in the english we speak today.
For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. -Matthew 25:29
This was part of a parable that taught to use what God has given you to bless others and further his kingdom, IE: spiritual gifts, money, your family, everything! Or it will be taken away from you!

You should read the whole story so you understand the context. The link below gives the story; it's verse 26 specifically.
Luke 19:11 - 26

However, you might find the Message version even easier to understand; it's link is below.

To me that means if you are saved you shall be given abundantly. If you are not saved even what you have shall be taken away in the end.

is this from the parable of the talents/farthings with the wicked and lazy servant?
id so, I guess it means "if God can trust you with what you are given, He'll take you to the next level of glorification and responsibility. If you can't be trusted with what you were given, then you're not getting any more and it's of no use to you".
I assume the "what you are given" are talents, abilities and spiritual gifts.
