You don't have to have tonsils to get a throat infection; removing them just makes it a little less likely. That being said, it sounds like you could have either the flu or a throat infection. Flu is usually accompanied by achey joints and fever; a throat infection is more localized to the throat itself, and tends to cause a more intense sore throat. You can take Tylenol/acetominophen for your fever if you have it; do NOT take aspirin unless your doctor says so. Also be sure to drink plenty of fluids, and rest.

Your dizziness tends to make me wonder about the flu, certainly. Either way - sounds like it's time to visit your doctor.

Now why would you think having your tonsils out would stop infectious diseases from affecting you?! Tonsils are usually removed if yours tend to swell a lot and cause difficulty breathing when you're sick. But tonsils keep bacteria from going further down your throat. Once they're gone those bacteria can just go on down your throat. Dizzy with a sore throat can be many, many different things. You need to look at everything. Do you have a fever? Do you feel sick? Do you not want to eat? Is it worse at night? etc All the facts together help give a clearer diagnosis.

Your throat can still become infected without tonsils. Strep, just the common cold, or even the flu can cause those symptoms.
