When the last Capri was made on December 19, 1986, 1,886,647 cars had rolled off the production line. Production had ended at Halewood, UK in 1976 and the Capri was made exclusively in Germany from 1976 to 1986. Most of those (more than a million) were the Mk1, mostly because the Mark 1 sold well in North America and Australia, while the Mark 2 and Mark 3 were only exported outside Europe (to Asia and New Zealand) in limited numbers.

December 19th 1986 to be precise. If you are interested in the full history of the Capri try the following link.

Remember driving MkI and 2 MKII's. Owned a 78 2.0l Ghia with 205/55/13's and thought I was the bee knees at the tiime (1985). Loved that car and was sorry to see it go. At least you could work on those engines.

Depends but in the US there was only Mercury Capri that shipped in for a few years before becoming a cousin to the Ford Mustang and ultimately was built in Australia (as a 2 seat roadster) that was found here in the US from 1991-1994 and was stopped in Australia the same year.

The final fling came in 1986 when the last limited-edition model, the 280 in Brooklands Green (1038 were produced), was put on sale. The last Capri was produced on December 19, 1986. It brought the total to 324,045 MkIII's built in eight years.
1987 was the last year it was produced in Germany but unsure of the date

Sorry I don't know... but at 18 and 19 years of age (1989/90) I had 2 of 'em..... a gold coloured "sweeney" type 3.0 L, and a newer "professionals" blue sporty 2.8 L. I never really wanted them but my Dad got em from auctions for me. Was a bit put off by the giant bonnet and connotations of that... but they were great fun to drive around in at that time when all my mates had small low powered cars.

I heard it was December 16th but I will deffer to those who say 19th. It was 1986 and I still would love to own a 280 Brooklands. The car I always promised myself!
