How many of you are so blinded by what your religion says that you look down on other people who may be great loving people just because they don't believe the same thing?

How many of you assume that your religious bad guy is working in their lives to make them horrible people?

How many of you judge other people that way?

And finally, does your religion condone looking at people that way at all? Does it make you feel good or "better" than them to do so?

I judge no one.

There are those who would come on the other side of my religion to judge and condemn, but that runs contrary to the teachings of the religion.

Modern christianity is not as Jesus asked us to practice.

I am a member of the LDS church and although we believe that we are the only true church on the earth, we never say anything bad about other faiths. We actually try to befriend others of different faiths and accept and love them for the people they are, and not watch church they go to.
We have been told many times by the leaders of our church that any type of racism, sexism, or slanderous behaviors of any kind are not to be tollerated or allowed. We believe we are all children of our Heavenly Father and should be accepted no matter what.

I don't look down on anyone... cuz I am a sinner just like the next person! there is no perfect person on this earth.... i am no better than the next... what they believe or do not believe is not something I have to judge...

you know, the 'religious bad guy' or satan as I know him... is more at work in Christians' lives because he would like nothing more than to win back that soul to hell than to let God have another one.... I have seen more Christians under attack from satan than people who don't know Christ... So, the comment about 'making them horrible people' doesnt fly so much with me.... I've been on both sides.... and definitely see the enemy working on us more when we are Christians...

my faith in Christ does NOT condone looking down on anyone.... Jesus himself was a friend of sinners.... ate with despised tax collectors... and the 'religious' men of the day looked down on JESUS for 'hanging with the wrong crowd'... I don't look down upon anyone because i 'am one of them' just like anyone else... I fall short of perfection... i'm only saved by Grace

I don't feel that my religion blinds me at all. I have friends of many faiths and never condemn someone because of their beliefs or lack thereof. That's their personal choice and none of my business.

There are no religious bad guys in my religion.

Therefore I don't judge other people based on my non-existent bad guy.

I don't think I'm better than anyone else. :)

Nope...I have a good education. My believe is base on my own research and my own thinking. I was born in this religion and chose to know more because I don want to have a blind faith.
And my religion teach people to be equal. No one shoud look down upon others. We teach to live in harmony with other religion.
And we are not judgemental cos thats not allowed to in my religion.

No, I don't judge. I have been very judged by Christians because I don't fit the normal Christian bill and wouldn't let others put me in their mold....I don't think that because I believe a certain way it makes me better than anyone else. I have to agree with the other poster that modern Christianity is not the way it was intended.

My religion has no bad guy. A big part of my religion is to accept that others believe differently and have every right to do so. We are nonjudgmental, so it's kind of hard to be blinded by that

Well the problem is that Jesus taught that we are blind and he is the only one that can make us see. Also the Bible doesnt teach to look down on people, that is just simply how you percieve the church. Yes people can be great by their own standards but being good by your own standards doesnt get you into Heaven, Gods grace does.

Satan already owns the evil people, it is believers he is primarily attacking.

We see people for what they are- sinners. We just try to preach and teach the Gospel and will let God judge the world for their sin. Its not about us, its about God.

Good question(s).
Yes I feel myself blinded so many times. And good thing is I confess it without argueing it to claim in front of others that its logical and deep.

The Bible (God's word) teaches me NOT to judge others.. in fact it commands me to love others.. no matter who they are..

Romans 2:1
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Romans 14:13
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Psalm 7:11
God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

Psalm 50:6
And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.

Matthew 7:1
Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Matthew 7:2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

John 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

John 15:17
These things I command you, that ye love one another.

Romans 12:10
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Romans 13:8
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

Ephesians 4:2
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

1 John 3:11
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1 Thessalonians 3:12
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward ALL men, even as we do toward you:

Notice it says "ALL"

all I can do is ask Jesus to help me to obey His word.. and grow to be more like Him each day..
