I know the breed, but testing the Yahoo Answer Pet people on there knowledge of this particular breed. All 3 in the picture are Champion purebred dogs, they are NOT mine. 2--Tibet ( originaly bred by Monk's they were occasionaly given as gift's but never sold)

3--Snipey (pointed) Muzzel
Over or Under size (height 14" to 17" ??)
Dudly Nose (not all black)
Narrow Head

4-- No --- It is NOT really a Terrier

Looks like a Tibetan Terrier to me...I could be wrong, but if it is, I believe the breed was developed in Tibet to be a guard/ hunting dog & companion. Not being that familiar with the breed standard, I can't name common faults or DQ's in the breed, sorry. As far as the name goes...if you are referring to the "terrier" part( the breed is a member of the Non-Sporting Group in AKC), I do think the breed is properly named. Many breeds in AKC "seem" to be in the wrong groups...Yorkshire Terriers, Toy Fox Terriers are in the Toy Group; Miniature Schnauzers are in the Terrier Group, while the Giant & Standard Schnauzer are both in the Working Group! Go figure!

2. The Lost Valley, in Tibet whose ancestors include the North Kunlun Mountain Dog and the poodle-like Inner Mongolian Dog.
