i start taking the vitimin L-Lysine and it works great! it's available at all drug stores.

I agree withe the first responder -go to the drug store and get some Lysine. It works in about 80% of the people. Even if you catch it a little late in definitely can reduce the severity.
Lysine is a natural chemical in the body so it can't hurt you but it has very good results in reducing or even preventing cold sores.

I chose to go to my doctor who prescribed me Valtrex. Whenever I feel an outbreak coming on I will take 2 pills. This is usually enough to fend off a huge attack. Zovirax and Lysine are also great to have in your arsenal! Good luck!
