Over the years I haven't seen very many.

An excellent breed of dogs!!! Very intelligent and protective, as well as loving and affectionate.Years ago they were very popular, but for the wrong reason to the wrong people. As the pit bulls are today. They were a status symbol. I'm glad that phase has passed. They are my most favorite breed and currently I have three, 2 females, Desire and Velvet and one male named Blazer. Unfortunately there are quite a few Doberman rescues on the Internet. When it is time to add another to my family it will be from a rescue group.

Of coarse people still keep dobermans as pets! The reason that you might not see as many is varied. Dog breeds come in and out of style, dobermans are out. Another reason is that dobermans have gotten a bad reputations, bad owners NOT bad dogs, and there for less people are apt to have one. Another reason is with more people renting these days small dogs are the thing!

I have had dobermans for the last 18 years.
I work with a rescue that specializes in placing dobermans.
I do not see as many as I once did but we always seems to be full in our rescue.

of coruse! dobies make wonderful, loyal and obedient pets. unfortunately, like several other breeds (rotties, shepards, staffordshire terriers, chow-chows...), they have gotten a bad reputation over the years and their mainstream popularity has declined. just as there are trends in fashion, there are trends in dog ownership! the AKC listed dobermans as #21 in registration ranking in 2006. that's still pretty high in a list of of 155 breeds. dobermans are still out there and the people who love and understand them will keep the breed going strong!

Yes they do. You prbably haven't seen too many of them do to there tendency of being high matenence dogs, that and they could be out of style for where you live, I know that sounds crued, but it's true people want what's in style nowadays.

Of course they do. Dobermans are very loveable dogs. They make very good loyal pets and they are very comical, smart and entertaining. There's one in our family and I love him.

Yes they still keep dobies as pets because they are very good house dogs... and can be trained very easily..

AND unlike the shepherds I have... they do not shed that much.... LOL

they aren't as common, i have only ever met 1 large one, i think this is because the have a bad reputation, really pit bulls are the breed you have to watch out for. i would consider having a doberman when i grow up, they are beautiful dogs
