I have a fourty-five pound shepard mix dog, and she has long, very thick fur. I have had her for nine years, and this is the first time this has happened. I have bathed her in a baking soda dog shampoo I bought at the pet store...she still stinks,,,any ideas on what I can do? Also, she has always had the same dog food, and this has been going on for several weeks now...

Yep, I agree with the other poster, it's probably impacted anal glands. Have your vet check them. You can look it up on the internet to see what we are talking about. It's a very foul smell, my pug has problems with them getting impacted frequently and then a little of the "juice" will leak out and it's NASTY!! We call it "Fishy Butthole Syndrome"!! Good luck!

have her anal glands checked. they may need to be emptied. the smell will linger as long as they are full.
