There ARE people who believe this. They also feel that by consciously feeling good thoughts, such as love, peace, happiness, etc, that you CAN change the universe.
There is a movie that covers this idea called "What the Bleep!?". My 2 year old daughter is REALLY interested in this movie, which is funny since it also features interviews with some scientists who work with particle physics and quantum mechanics.
But the idea works like this: if you wake up and are having a "bad day", the rest of your day will be bad. You will have all sorts of accidents, problems, you'll be clumsy, forgetful, etc. And this will affect those who are around you until the whole office is feeling crabby.
Whereas if you wake up in a bad mood but immediately focus your attention on the best parts of your life and the best parts of the day that you can, you'll find that, though you might have problems or run-ins or hangups, that nothing will be so bad that you can't handle it. The people in your office might be in a bad mood, but you can realize that they are and yet not succumb to it yourself. Days and months and years of this attitude will also lend to the belief that the universe is making a turn for the better. Hence, "our thoughts determine our reality" (Qui-Gon Jinn, Star Wars Episode I), or "we are the universe made manifest" (Delenn, Babylon 5).

Well I guess you could look at Taoism like that.
The universe is composed of energy (chi or qi) whose flow is Tao.
I personally wouldn't use the term God, since I reserve this for 'personal' individual entities such as Odin or the God of the bible. But you could say all is one.
Certainly we are all part of the universe. Our bodies are composed of material created at the beginning of time and the atoms thereof will only die when the universe does.
Of course, that doesn't mean I won't die. That would be silly. There is no 'I'.

A man who died and came back described Jesus as a being of "unlimited energy".
Interesting in a scientific way if you start with a huge amount of energy coming from an infinitesimally small area and creating all matter in the universe. And, since Jesus is the one who is attributed to creating the universe in John.

Many people believe that god is infinite. You can't have what is infinite, and then everything else. There can not be so much as one atom outside of god, because then it would not be infinite.
Many Christians believe that god is pure energy. That we are all part of it, and it is part of us. Taoist have believed this for a long time.

I believe the highest God is conscious energy (like a universal consciousness) and flows through everything, binding it all together. I know a lot of people who hold similar views to my own.

Sounds like everything is Mara, don't it? At a certain viewpoint, everything is just information in a Quantum Matrix...

I don't know, I find the idea unsatisfactory. If everything is god and there is nothing outside of god, we are god also. Then why do certain parts of god seem to hate and kill each other?

Does this mean that we are all Gods?
I am not saying we can overthrow the main part of God, but doesn't it mean we are able to do things like he does, like, create & destroy?
Sort of?
