I lie down in a quiet & dark room with a cold washcloth over my eyes. If your headache is from the weather, try drinking something caffeinated. My doctor told me that when it rains, the falling barometric pressure makes your blood vessels swell up, giving you a headache. Caffeine helps constrict them and ease the pain. It works for me.

Generally Headaches are Brought on by Stress and High Blood pressure if they are not Organic. First if there is ANYTHING out of the ordinary Physically you should see a Doctor as soon as POSSIBLE. Don't put it off till Later,Because Later Could Be TOO late !!! PAIN of any type is telling us there is Something Wrong,Be Carefull...If Everything is O.K.and you are not suffering with the flu,a cold,Allergies,or God Forbid a Brain Tumor then there are a few Simple things that are Sure to Help--First Reduce Your Stress---Get the Job,The Kids,The Car,The Husband,or the Boy Friend Out of your Mind---Think of NUMBER ONE,YOU !!! For Now Take time Each Day to Find Some Quiet Time to Your self to Concentrate on Bringing Your Pressures DOWN !!! that means blood pressure AND Mental Pressures too. While you are Relaxing Find some Calming-Easy-Listening-Music to Help Clear your Mind,Get yourself in a relaxed Position, sitting or Reclining. Do this for at least a Half Hour---If Not More Each Day,This CONDITIONING should Help Change your Constant Stress Level... When you are coming back to the Real World---Examine your daily Problems, approach each one with the attitude of "It Isn't Really That Bad !!!" What I am Trying to get you to do is Relax more. If You Like Anything With a lot of Caffine,Alcohol or Sugar Content it Might be good to Reduce that Intake---Get My Drift ??? A Cool Damp Cloth to the back of your neck when you feel a stress headache coming on Helps Bring down your Pressure Too.If You Have Allergies--Find out what they are and Get on a Regement of Antihistamines.Get Enough Sleep---At LEAST 5-8 Hours Daily.Don't Forget, Spring is when a Lot of things are Blooming. we tend to be out and about a lot more to---Stirring up all kinds of molds and spores. Generally Be Carefull and Learn to Relax---My Analysis Comes From the Fact that Medications Don't Solve your Condition,Your Brain Is Screaming for Help Because you can't Force More Blood into the space that your brain Already FILLS !!! Blood Vessels Have Been Known to Rupture Over Less...So Calm Yourself,Have a Cup of Tea and Watch a Sunset or two.....Signed---JEM

Head ache has many reasons and all head aches cannot be cured immediately. If you have cold then the head will be persisting and will not be easy to cure it. You can have only temporary relief. For All headaches I take aspirin or paracetamol for immediate relief. If I could avoid it then I do the following. Going for a short walk in the busy street. Doing neck exercises. Apply balms and rub vigorously on the affected areas. Heat the sides of head by keeping a hot cloth. The cloth is heated by iron box, or even by a hot utensil kept over the stove. The same treatment can be carried out by washing the face and neck with hot water.. You will feel fresh and head ache gone. Try any of these methods.

I guess it depends on the type of headache you have. I get a lot of sinus headaches from allergies. First of all I try to avoid them by staying out of a smokey room, wearing a dust mask when I clean or vacume, and vacume a lot to avoid dust build up. If you end up with a sinus headache anyways one thing I do is turn the shower on really hot and sit in the tub to let the steam rise. That usually loosens things up in my sinuses and the hot water is relaxing. One thing you can do is make sure you are drinking lots of water. When you get dehydrated the blood vessels in your head shrink causing a headache.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

When I get struck with a migraine, I usually get a hot water bottle (or heating pad) and place it on the area where it hurts... it helps out a lot.
As far as herbal remedies, you can try chamomile tea... but becareful with that because if you have pollen allergies, it may not help at all.
