or-- they donate it to the local medican school for research; they usually ask the family of the person what the fate should be.

I am sorry for your father- my understanding is that it depends on the hospital- but it typically is discarded as apart of Medical waste- which in the majority of cases is incinerated (though not necessarily at the hospital itself.

I actually know the answer to this question b/c I asked it of a medical provider after I had something removed. They do what they do with all medical waste - it is frozen for a period of time, then incinerated. I hope your dad is okay. Good luck to you.

Probably incinerated, unless he is at a teaching hospital, in which case it went to med students. He would have had to sign permission. Such a macabre thing to think of, though. I hope your dad is ok.
