My dog yips and barks constantly! I can't stand it. The worst part is that he does it at nothing! Please tell me how to stop it!

He is not a puppy and if i tell him no or even tap him on the nose he stops for like 2 seconds then barks again and if he barks then my other dog starts barking then they start "play fighting" and the whole house is going crazy. Besides, nobody in my house has the money for a "no bark" collar.

Your dog is BORED!!! That's why the other dog is called into it to play, your dog is just trying to start something fun. Or trying to get a reaction out of you, even a bad reaction is better than nothing when you're bored. Just like a little kid does!! Take him for a long walk, at least 30 min. each day. Give him something fun and challenging to do like playing with a treat ball (a rubber toy ball that has slots in the ends you can stick treats into...the dog has to figure out how to get the snacks out).
Try this and see if things don't improve, I'll bet they do. Good luck!

My sister had the same problem. She bought a no bark collar and it really worked. After a few days she took it off and if her dog barks all she has to do is show her the collar and she stops.

Get a "no-bark" collar from a sporting goods store or pet store, find the ones that when they bark they get squirted with water! Dogs hate being squirted with water and I have sold these to ALOT of people who said they work excellent! Or if you have an inside dog just get a squirt bottle and keep it handy so when he barks you just reach over and squirt him! That'll make him stop barking.

when he barks, say "no" in a quick, menacing sorta way. dont yell and scream at him, cuz if you act excited (because yelling or screaming is being excited to a dog) the dog will get excited. keep doing for...oh, i'll say for a few days. if he keeps doing it, go with the old fashion way, say "no" and hit him on the nose. not hard, just like a harsh tap. do that for a while, and soon, if he barks and you say "no", he'll stop

You should get a collar that keeps him from barking. The collar will make a high-pitched noise that only dogs will hear whenever he barks. It hurts their ears so he should stop

If you don't want them barking, get a couple of halti's or gentle leaders and keep them handy. I have a 2 bark maximum, and take care of a friend's dog who can be yappy. He quickly remembers after the first, YAP, YAP, out comes the gentle leader and is secured on his head for a few minutes. When he's quiet, off it comes. If he goes YAP, YAP, again, on it goes again. He's quite willing to refrain from barking to keep from wearing the gentle leader.

You could try getting a spray bottle with water in it, and every time he barks you could say, "NO!" and spray him with it. Or rattle coins in a can to divert his attention.
Make sure that you still give him some freedom to bark though, he is a dog.

If it is a puppy, you will just have to deal with it for a while. It it is not, then I suggest taking the dog to some type of training and hope that it works.
