I guess basically the answer depends on the amount of people who are pessimistic.
If you have one or two friends who think he or she is a jerk - I'd probably chalk that more up to jealousy or something along those lines.
If pretty much everybody you know thinks that that person is not right for you - I'd run for the hills!
From what you are saying (and more importantly- what you are not) I am gathering that you are in a emotionally abusive relationship with somebody who is totally wrong for you.
Go get a book on abusive relationships and read that. Immediately following, get the book "It's called a Break-up cuz It's Broken" by Greg Behrendt. Sounds like you need more than just everybody telling you to get rid of that relationship. You need your own personal strength that will allow you to leave!
I've been there. I've done that. I'm now very happy!

Love doesnt matter to everyone, just you and whoever you love, so yes I'd hold on even if everyone was pessimistic

Your heart's gonna tell you it doesn't matter. But your head says your friends and family see something very wrong, and u need to ask them what it is. If they are honest with you, maybe you will open your eyes to the possiblity that he may not be the ONE for you.
