Long silences are waiting for messages the one that are not told. The long silence is a good sign. Silence is acceptance.:)

Long silences aren't a good sign unless you are both shy. Face the silence head on and go to dinner with him and be kind of prepared with some questions for him and even topics to discuss. But he should be interested in you, too, and ready to ask you some questions besides talking about himself. I do believe people know they've hit it off when they typically can't stop talking to each other and feel comfortable in each other's company. For the two of you, it is too soon to tell, but make sure your second date allows you to talk. In other words, don't go to a movie (unless you discuss it at dinner afterwards). By the way, compatible people don't talk every second...but when you are just getting to know each other, silence isn't too great. Good luck and God Bless you too.

if there's a big silent, why not you start a conversation. Maybe he's out of question to ask you. And long silences is not normal to a couple that is still trying to get to know each other.

there are always long silences on a fisrt date, thats why you need to get a little alcyhol involved, it loosens the tongue, primes the cannon and the females draw bridge comes crashing down. LOL i love my medieval metaphores

what's wrong with silence? on the 2nd date, try to relax a little and don't worry if there's a period of silence.
