Gee. A distant, faceless, father figure of an all-mighty, creator-ghost that floats in the sky.
Like I'm really gonna love a theological construct over my own family.

The people in this world will fail you always, even your family and especially your family. But God will never fail you, can save you, and is the greatest thing we know of because he created everything including you and your family. So which is more valuable to you?

I can give you a few:
God created you, not your family (even parents)
God created your family (you didn't)
God is the only One with the power to give you eternal life
God is the only One with the power to give your family eternal life
God gave you your family (you had no choice in the matter)
Christians recognize these facts and give God the glory for His power. We owe Him our allegiance because of the above reasons.

If you want to be with God, you love God more than anything else..And when you do, there is a big change that you can be together as a family in eternity. God wants you to love your family, but He asks you to love Him the most.

...because He is God
...because He is your Creator
...because He keeps you alive
...because He loves you more than anyone else ever could
...because He gave His only son to die for your sins
...because He says you must worship Him and Him alone
...because He said to love Him "with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind" and "your neighbor (everyone else) as yourself."
...because the love you are able to have for your wife, your children, and your siblings comes from loving God first and best
