In order for your argument to be valid, both premises need to be proven. The one that cannot be denied is the idea of humans being flawed. However, your premise that religion was made by humans is not true at all, and actually cannot be proven. You can neither prove nor disprove that religion was a human idea. This is actually an issue that is beyond reason. Reason only goes so far in these types of discussions. It cannot explain anything that has to do with faith, such as the origin of religion. If religion is a faith action, then it's origin must be faith, and therefore not explained by reason. So, your argument is not valid because you can neither prove nor disprove your first premise.

If religion was started by humans, then religion is flawed because it is not true, not real. The good thing about religion is what you mention, it is a comfort to some. I for one am unable to willingly suspend disbelief, so that doesn't help me much. It is becoming more and more obvious to more and more people that the claims of a god in the sky are the result of human imagination.
Humanity needs a paradigm shift, a sea change. Look to science, not scions, for information, for truth.

No, it doesn't ...because religion was not created by man, but by God who worked directly with Abraham and other early leaders. Later, it was Jesus Christ (who is also part of the Trinity; Father Son and Holy Spirit) who started the first Christian church.....
As a little background to this, Jesus created the first church when He said to Peter:
"I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." - Matthew 16:18.
Peter was therefore the first Pope, or Holy Father and each successor Pope was chosen until today. There is actually a trace of all the Pope's (Holy Fathers) in the church back to Peter.
I like the Catholic church as founded by Jesus, and since it is the original source, I can trust more in how the Bible is interpreted and what Christ wanted for His church on earth. Also I like that I can go to any country or state and visit a Catholic church and I will get the same mass no matter where I am. But most of all, I like the Eucharist which is eating the bread and drinking the blood (wine) of Christ at every mass.
Matthew 16:19
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."

Your statement, "Religion started by people needing something to depend on during crop-failures, sadness, or other hardships" is proof of your lack of faith and knowledge about religion. I believe people do make errors. If you want to believe you came from a monkey, that's fine. I think you came from Adam and Eve.

I cant believe how many of these types of questions appear in the religion section. Why do people who do not believe in God have to come on here and try to take away people's faith? We are fine with what you want to believe, yet you come on here hypocritically after saying that we try to force religion onto you, and then try to discount peoples faith. I can not comprehend this. Get a life, go do something else, you are all so pathetic I can not beleive you waste your boring existance trying to make people not believe in something which you are not going to succeed in. I am SO SICK of these questions.

The origin of religion is God since it is him we believe in. If there was no God, there would be no religion.
The only thing that is flawed is humanity that needs Jesus Christ.

Religion is the attempt of primitive man to explain nature and natural events. It has now been replaced by science.

no. this is all wrong. if religion were started by people, then people would be the gods. but they are not. p.s. many schools teach that as time goes on people developed less and less gods. not true either. the jews came before the romans, as the romans before hinduism.

There is an error in your human assessment....religion did not originate with man, but with God when He revealed His laws to man....
