Bear in mind a couple of years ago it was Mad Cow disease- every other year the media needs to hype up a "catastrophe" for slow news days.

If anything- take your kids out of school- which would be the number one place where it would be spread.

I'd worry about that if and when it becomes a problem. Remember the killer bees? They're here, and we're still alive. We also haven't succumbed to mad cow or bad spinach. The best thing you can do to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands, especially before eating, and teach your kids the same. Stay away from other sick people. It's common sense; if some sort of pandemic occurs, they will tell you on the news what to do.

As a healthcare provider I'd say in the list of worries about your children I'd save this for a more realistic time period. I'm not worried about it and I do this for a living. When ....and ....if....it becomes a more realistic probability.....I'd advise you then. You may not be old enough to remember all the hoopla we went through (not to mention the money spent) on immunizing the masses against swine flu...which never developed. I'm not saying it could not turn into a reality....but let's put it on the back burner now. There's bigger fish to fry as far as the worries for the well being of your children go.
