i need some info for a essay im doing for a AP class

i think it was because of the unrestricted sub warfare by the germans. they sank a ship named the lusitania (sp?) which had Americans and American equipment going to Europe. I think the equipment was military supplies that we were giving/selling to the other European nations though so you may be able to argue we were in the war before that economically anyway.

I would have to say that they joined World War I for economical and political purposes. It is important to know that America was really in favor of this war and it had full American support. America was allies with England and France and when Germany began the war America basically was in so that they could continue trading and what not.
