In my last question I unjustly tied you atheists here to your atheistic brethren in China.

Point being, it was unjust to tie your belief system to atrocities beyond your control. Just as it is unjust for you atheists here to tie us Christians to atrocities that we neither control nor condone: past or present.

For your information this persecution goes on in most communist countries as a direct result of the teachings of Karl Marx that "religion is the opiate of the people".
It is brutal and widespread, our press does not report on it. I find out about it through friends, Voice of the Martyrs, and other organizations.

Violence against Christians rarely gets reported and it happens all the time. I have gotten stories of horrible atrocities from friends and family but there is never any interest from the mainstream media.

acid zebra - I get it from people who live there and are afraid of being jailed or killed. You are going to tell me if Marx hadn't of spread his hatred of religion this would still happen. I don't think so.

uh, china is about 1 billion Buddhists. Communism is a political ideology that has replaced God with worship of the state. On the other hand, Afghanistan was a place that replaced the state with God worship, which seems to be what most Americans want for themselves.

What might be interesting for you to note is that the religion most persecuted in China is Falun Gong, not Christianity. Falun Gong is a secular meditation cult. The Christians have basically sucked up to Beijing and the Vatican - after a years-long fight - has finally agreed to accept Beijing appointed Bishops. So, not much backbone there.

Regardless, atheism has nothing to do with it, being simply a statement of non-belief in God. No politics there. History has shown that most Christians are the first sheep to follow a charlatan like Hitler (Germany being 98% Christian at the time).

And look what happens when you put a born-again fundie in charge. Could it get much worse than George W. Bush - the worst president in American history??!

You might want to hit the history books a bit longer before the big exam.

The problem with Communism isn't it's lack of religion, it is that it has become a religion all its own. It demands faith from all its follower, blind acceptance of the leadership, and control of your life and thoughts. They forbid religion so that it doesn't get in the way.

I happen to be quite conservative and believe a free-market economic system. Your thoughts on most political things is not changed by atheism at all.

And look that Marx quote up. It goes on that everyone need a little opium every once in a while. Funny how that gets taken out of context all the time.

No, there are differences between the two societies.

Do you understand the difference between state-sponsored/sanctioned atheism based upon a Communist (Lenin, Stalin, Mao) government -vs- atheism as a choice of belief in the Western World?

Your comparing apples to oranges.

I'm curious. Why is it that when I do a search for this gentleman on the net, I can find no news stories about the incident. The only information I find is on pro-Christian web sites. Is this actually a valid news story or propaganda?

that's because of the fact faith DOES reason wars. take a glance at Israel and Palestine. What replaced into one in each and every of Hitler's significant concentrations? even nevertheless, it does not reason all violence. it rather is an asinine end to make. And what precisely are you attempting you're saying with the "Atheists on top of issues" BS? no longer accustomed to separation of church and state? faith or lack thereof could desire to be saved break free politics. One incident in China does not recommend Atheists "have administration". Ridiculous.

The reason you can't compare the Atheists in America to Atheists in to Atheists in China is because they only thing they have in common is they don't believe in God. Where Christians all around the world follow they same book.

China's actions are in the name of Communism not atheism, yes some atheists do bad things but never in the name of atheism, which is more then pretty much every religion

I don't think Christians get it. Atheists don't do violence over Atheism. They do violence over other things like land and power. Christians do violence over those things but they also do violence to try to force other people to live by their religion whether those people want to or not.

Yeah.. China has problems but those problems aren't brought on by Atheism.

Actually, it is a tradition of the Communist countries to be Atheistic, and also to persecute and attempt to destroy or control religions inside their borders...It all does go back to Karl Marx's dislike of religion (something understandable from his observations).

But it is true to day it is unfair to tie Atheists to the atrocities committed in the name of Atheism, just as it is unfair to tie modern Xtians to things committed in the name of mother church, just as it is unfair to link modern Germans to the Nazi Holocaust, or modern Americans to the excesses of the American government...

People should be accountable for their own actions, and the sins of the fathers shouldn't stain the children...Everything and Everyone has skeletons in their closets...

Then you have not read or understood Marx's works, or you don't understand communism, or your don't understand the corrupt regimes and power struggle that is going on or was going on in communist countries.
