Don't do what you used to do.
I know, it sounds elementary, but the way to change bad behavior patterns is ... don't do the behaviors. Find something more productive to do instead.

well if you have the will of wanting to change, then why not change. The question is not "how" but more of "why not?". Do the opposite of what you did before. LIke listen to your mom and go to school and dont hang out in the streets.

First off, give yourself some credit for realizing that you have to change because your older now. No, it is not going to be easy, but you are not alone. Everyone in some way at some point in their life are still growing. So is mom. Whatever it is that is placing you in prison should change. It is not going to happen overnight, though. Do you have a passion for being in school? If so, find out what steps need to be taken to get you there(are we talking college or finishing H.S.) What exactly is your mother telling you to do? Do you feel she treats you like a child? Just be encouraged.

You sound like so many people I know. But do you know what makes you different? It is the fact that you want to change. Changing is not easy. The first thing to remember is that you might fall again. You might sleep back to the life you are trying kill. But every time you fall, be ready to get back up.
I was always told that you are who hang around. So I think you should choose friends wisely. Get into some sort of religion. I am not one to judge so I will allow you to choose a religion. I am Christian and I know that going to church has helped me. In order to heal things with your mother, I would first confess to her that you are trying to better yourself. Just as you are asking us, ask her what you can do. Find hobbies and get involved in them. do you work? do you date? THese are all things to consider. And hey if you ever need someone to talk to or asks a few questions then do so at net30cal@yahoo.com. I'd be glad to help!

yeah, i listen to my parents, i put myself through college, ride on plastic sleds behind friends' vehicles in the streets, the only place i get locked up is while driving my vehicle because it automatically locks when i drive at least 20mph.

Make a serious effort to be better. If you think something is bad dont do it, make a good goal for yourself everyday and make yourself complete it.
