I also have the XTR components. The chain you selected will be a good one. I've read online that the Wipperman is the best, but it is $50+. I personally went with the SRAM PC-991 because it was nickel plated AND it had the powerlink that allows you to remove the chain to clean.

Cleaning the Shimano chain with the chain machine used to take forever & was a pain in the neck. Now I just remove the chain, throw it in some degreaser overnight, shake occasionally, and it comes out clean without the effort.

I've also seen some nasty chainsuck while riding and the only way to free the chain was to remove it. SRAM is much easier.

There are several company's that make bike chain, Campagnolo, Shimano, Sram, and Wipperman. You can buy a chain for as little as $15.00 or as much as $129.00 I looked at your links and I believe you have made the correct choice. Both are the HG and should work very well together and the prices are good. Stay with your choice.

Get a CN-HG93 - it is an Ultegra/XT chain. Should be 15-25% cheaper than a CN7701 (DuraAce/XTR). Nickel plated chains do seem to perform better than non-plated chains though.

Get Wipperman Connex series ( available via www.coloradocyclist.com)----STAINLESS ( Connex 9x1 type)!---rust in chains are TERRIBLE and will do serious damage to your freewheel and crankset----and buy excellent lube!
