The more I read, the more I realize that is what the Church uses to scare people.....they use the Devil, Satan, Santa, Lucifer, The Fallen One who is doomed......Very Folklore-ish now that I have grown up.

There is nothing Folkloreish about Satan. As a Christian you should never have to fear Satan. It is only the unsaved that will parish. Hell was never created for man, it was created for the fallen angels and their leader Lucifer, the Star of the Morning. But when man sinned he could no longer go into Heaven, because Heaven is a perfect place. So Christ had to come and pay the price for your sins and my sins, so that we do not have to pay the price for our sins. Where do you think that we got the laws, and the idea that when someone breaks the law they must pay a price. That depends on how serious the crime is. Murder you may end up on death row, a speeding ticket you pay with your money. Sin was paid for by the blood of the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world. Jesus gives everyone the chance to be saved and go into heaven. It is our choice to ask Him to pay the price for our sins and be our Savior or we have the choice to ignore Christ and then we pay the price for our sins and that is Hell. If you do any study in Archology finds you will find out that every spot that the Bible speaks about , they are able to find proof. If you ever listened to the Scientists at Nasa you would no longer be a disbeliever. It makes me sad to think that you believe all of this is just some story, because that is one of the biggest lies of the enemy and that is how he gets so many souls into hell. The Bible says that the road to heaven is narrow and few shall enter it and the road to hell is wide and many will perish. Do your research, you will find the truth. Jesus says that " I am the way the truth the light. " I hope you find the truth.

You are quoting the satanic bible. Be cautious at to where your curiosity takes you to. It might just grant your wishes and give you what you want:
The Nine Satanic Statements
by Anton Szandor LaVey
The Nine Satanic Statements originally appeared in The Satanic Bible, © 1969
Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!
Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!
Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!
Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!
Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all!
Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!

I think that you are right in some ways because if you look back at the Catholic history it is clear that it has Pagan routes such as celebrating Christmas and Easter. Even the Cross has bad meanings and is associated with witch craft. If you dont believe me look on the web yourself, type it into google and you will find it all.
Even 'Saint Paul' who most christians see as an important figure in christianity has been guided by the devil. He apparantly said he had a vision where Jesus spoke to him and told him he was the Son of God. Is that not crazy since When Jesus was on earth he never once said he was the Son Of God!?
Catholicism is based on Paganism which is basically devil worship. You say you have been reading stuff which is making you realise they are scaring people and yes infact they are, they want to scare you so that they can control you. The more reading you do the more you will realise this.

I don't know what catholic church you go to but in mind they don't use the devil or Satan as you put it to scare people, and I have been a catholic for more than 50 years.

If you have ever seen Anton Szandor LaVey's nine satanic statements I believe it is the last statement that read Satan is the church's best friend as he has kept the church in business for all of these years. I think I'm quoting it right oh well.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!
Satan and sins are pawns for the catholic church. Because the world contains scary elements, people need to cling to the Catholic church. God would not want this, its so contradictory.
