I have a laminate hardwood floors in a medium brown, an area rug with a navy background--ivory, cream, hunter green, light blue floral pattern. My sofa is maize colored and I have a cherry armoite. I want to paint the room a soft silvery gray (woodwork is white) but can't seem to find the right shade--they are all towards blue or green or charcoal. Has anyone done this recently--what paint shade did you use?

Try a Sherwin Williams color called "Rhinestone" I think you'll like it.

Pottery Barn now partners with Benjamin Moore paints and they have a great gray color this season called "owl gray" - it's not too blue or too green. You can even order a fan deck of different paint samples. BTW, I think the gray will look great with the colors you already have!

go to lowe's.com & use their virtual painter. They have samples from all the designers. Hundreds of colors to choose from, you can even adjust them to find the exact shade you want. Then it will give you the name of the shade you choose. If you don't want to pay the designer prices for the paint, go to lowe's & pick up the paint chip sample you want, & take it to walmart & they can color match it with their paint brands.
