What are you feeding your boxer? What you put in him is what youre going to get out of him - bad breath, large oderous stool, arthritis and yes....shedding.

Start by feeding your boxer a premium dog food (dry only). No by products (heads, feet, intestines or feathers), and no corn (hard to digest). Look for a food that had protein or natural protein meal. Aside from sounding like a commercial (sorry) I use Nutro Natural Choice (Large Breed Formula).

Nutro guarantees the dog will love it, digestability (smaller stool, absorbing more vitamins and minerals) and a healthy skin and coat which means less shedding, and skin irritability. They've shown in 7 weeks time your dog will be transformed. Check out their website!!

Also.. brushing him daily will help greatly. It will get rid of the extra hair and enable the natural oils in his skin to work their magic. Washing him even w/ an oatmeal shampoo will only dry out his skin and cause more shedding (from the dead skin).

Thats the ONLY way you're going to stop the shedding.

Good Luck

Grooming and a Proper Diet would be very important thing to consider with this issue. Regular grooming will help, but like I said the diet would be of great importance. Science Diet is an expensive food, but is said to help with the shedding problem. I feed my Boxers Purina, and I have no problem with shedding.

Regular grooming should do the trick, oh and train the dog NOT to go on furniture and beds!

Groom him vigorously everyday for atleast 15 minutes with a rubber curry brush. If you have a shedding blade, great! Use it as well. One thing not to do: give him more frequent baths. Boxers don't need it, and it's likely to create more shedding plus dandruff.

Also, take a look at his dog food. Check out the ingredients, it may be adding to your problem.

But remember - Boxers love drooling and shedding. We even find Boxer hair in our food! Hazards of owning one, for a short haired breed they love to shed. It's not abnormal.

keep your dog in one area of the house to prevent hair all over the house some dogs lose a lot of hair at certain times of the year, regularly brush your dog and if this hair loss results in balding consult a vet for treatment this may be a sign of an illness.

check he has not got any kind of allergy first as short haired dogs are less likely to moult, but that aside, then regular brushing and less baths will prob help. Also check the diet there are some diets better for certain shedding problems than others. good luck
