I am told that someone else has filed using my ss number, call ss office and they told me that my number does belong to me!what can I do about this, holding wi tax return until federal is filed

You need to go to the Social Security office with proof of identity to get your correct SS# Once you do that contact the issuers of the W2 and request corrected W2's

You should call the irs and tell them about this. Do you have to original ss certificate? If so take it to the ss office in your area and tell them you want it straightened out. THis could cause a mess in your life.

Go ahead and file, but mail in your returns, both fed and state. You won't be able to efile. The IRS will sort out the mess eventually. Good luck.
