Boxer lives longer. If you are active or have kids, I suggest a Boxer! they are very active and just an all around amazing dog. Lives 11-14 years.

Great Danes only tend to live around 8 years. If you're lucky, maybe a year or two older. They are great with kids if raised around them. My moms boyfriend has a great dane and he is just amazing also. He's a big baby and loves everyone and everything.

Good Luck with choosing!

I never can figure out why people are always saying Danes have all kinds of health issues..this is simply NOT true. They have no more health issues then any other breed of dog. Also their life span is not that short..average is 10 -12 years about the same as Boxers, labs, Goldens, etc.
If a person buys a Dane or a Boxer from a responsible breeder who does health testing, pedigree research for health, longevity, temperament and breed standard they shouldn't have an issue with any kind of health issue since the risk is greatly reduced. Also a well bred dog Dane or Boxer will have been properly socialized and will have a wonderful temperament.
With good breeding, good medical care and fed a good quality food a dog be it Boxer or Dane should live a full, healthy life.
Most of the issues that Danes/Boxers have (or any breed for that matter ) comes from poor/irresponsible breeding, low quality food and little to no routine vet care.
Before buying ANY dog of ANY breed make sure to research them thoroughly, be prepared to buy from a responsible breeder, to do routine vet exams to feed a good quality meat based food (not one of the filler laden grocery store brands), do proper socialization and obedience training and you'll have a long happt freindship with your dog.

The boxer will probably live longer but the Great Dane is a better dog.
Added Later:
Great Danes don't need as much space as you think they do.
And as for aggression they aren't called Gentle Giants for the fun of it.
That Great Dane Lab mix was probably aggressive because of an inexperienced owner. I have had Danes before and none of them were aggressive. None of them needed a lot of room. I had two Danes and I had 2 children under 3 and nothing bad ever happened.
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT PEOPLE YOU CANNOT COMPARE A MIXED BREED TO A PURE BREED IN CASES LIKE THIS.

Boxers typically live longer than Great Danes. But many Boxers are claimed by cancer.
And the other part of the question I really don't understand. Are you asking us which you should get? Boxers and Great Danes are not really alike at all. I don't know much about Danes, but I strongly suggest you not get a Boxer unless you are a creative person who can deal with a nearly perpetual pup who's smarter than you at times.

On average a Boxer would last longer, mainly because Extra Large Breeds like Danes have such enlarged organs they tend to wear out more than a smaller sized dog. Average life span for a well kept Dane is 8 years but are known to get older. Boxers go about 12 years. Just depends on good health, optimum nutrition, care, and genetics.

Typically a Boxer will live longer than a Great Dane, but it all depends on how well you take care of them. Other factors in this could include genetics, diet, exercise, environment, and so on…

Great Danes have bad temperaments (mainly males), but so do Boxers. They are both cute. They are bothactive, and love to play. If you have small children, I suggest a Boxer. If you have older, gentle children (over age 10 or 11, without ADD/ADHD.), then get a Great Dane.
I myself had a Great Dane/Lab mix, but he was very aggressive, didn't get along with other dogs too well. He was mostly Great Dane. He wouldn't let anyone near him while he was eating. But, he was a good dog to play with, run with.
I hope that answered your question.
Oh, and I believe Boxers may live longer. It depends how healthy the dog is.

Boxer...Great Danes seem to have a lot of physical ailments...more so than a Boxer..They are both wonderful animals tho...And although large dogs..a Boxer will need a "little" less space to romp and play etc. than a Dane...

There are no guarantees with any dog, but typically a boxer would probably have a longer life expectancy. As far as which breed is best, that's really subjective. Both breeds have a lot of positives about them.

Depends upon many things, as the same goes with people. Both have their medical maladies and both have great qualities. I am preferential to a boxer, having owned 7 to date. Consider a rescue for either breed. These animals have been vet checked, spayed/neutered, heart worm negative, up to date on shots, personality checked and very well screened by their fosters. Best to you which ever breed you decide.
