they both need a lot of grooming. i have had a shih tzu and my neighbor has a pom. if i had to choose i'd choose the pom. she seems to need less grooming. and she seems to be a lot smarter. although our shih tzu was more playful. maybe a cross breed of the two would have the better qualities of both breeds. i'd check that out and then do some checking on both breeds before deciding or going by what anyone says on here.

Get both of them... So that your shih tzu or pomaranian wont get bored.. :)

are you really serious about that? you should really think about this... this is one of the reasons why there are so many mixed dogs out there!! how about yall sit down and talk to each other about this and do some research... f.y.i. i think shih tzu are so much prettier!!

You can check out adults of both breeds through petfinder.
I had a good experience adopting a small adult dog. It was nice to know his full-grown size and also know his temperament.
Both are really cute dogs!
