I have the bottom 3 inches of my hair bleached white and coloured with 'Fudge Paintbox - Pretty Flamingo', I leave the dye in for 6 hours, but it still fades to a pale salmon colour after 3 to 4 washes which is such a bummer. I dye it over again about every month to get the vibrancy back which works fine.
But I'm wondering how bad is it for your hair, exactly how many times in one month can I put the dye in my hair for 6 hours. Is once a month too many?
Since it has such lovely conditioning properties, can it almost be used like a conditioner, so I can use it everytime I wash my hair (which is 4 times a week).

is it a vegan based dye? if it is it's perfectly safe.. but I'd say you should just get a different brand if you need to touch it up that often. you can search the net for sites such as

those are a few I've found to buy hair dye at. from what I've been told special effects lasts the longest.

no experience personally with Fudge Paintbox, but I have used special effects, and they hold long and stay vibrant quite awhile. When I dyed mine with Special Effects, i had to redo it about every 6 weeks, and the dye only needed to stay on about an hour. www.specialeffects.com

So maybe consider changing brands? That way you dye less, save time and I assume money. Also, look for shampoos and conditioners that are made for color treated hair (if you arent already).

I've been using Punky Colour for a few years. I'm in Melbourne and can get it in a few shops but you have to look hard for it. It lasts longer than Fudge. I now buy it from the US b/c I like it so much. Don't know about their orange colours though
