im 14yrs old. 114 lbs. and 5foot am i overweight?

No. I'm 14 and I weigh 112. I thought I was overweight, but my doctor told me I wasn't.

It's pretty scary being in the triple digits. But its normal.

Rule of thumb is: at five foot you should be in the neighborhood of 100 lbs give or take a couple pounds. For every inch there after, add 5 pounds. Technically you would be considered overweight, but weight looks different on people. You could be built different, and where some people would look fat at this weight and height, you'd look perfectly normal and healthy. Sorry if this seems harsh, there is nothing wrong with having some extra weight as long as you keep a healthy diet.

I found your BMI with an online calculator (you can do it yourself at http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ ), and it is 22.3. The normal weight range is 18.5 - 24.9, and you are solidly in that range. So no, you don't need to loose weight. The most important thing to is to eat a well balanced diet, with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Also, drink plenty of water, and get lots of exercise.

If you really think that you need to lose weight, do it gradually - you shouldn't lose more than 2 pounds per week. And do it by cutting down on junk food and your caloric intake as well as exercising, not by skipping meals or anything drastic like that.

One word on the BMI scale - if you're very muscular, it won't be as effective. Muscle weighs more than fat, so that can make it be not as accurate. I hope this helps!

no you are not overweight!!!! not even close. very normal. all the girls your age are retarded when it comes to ideas on other people and how they look. anyone says anything to you they need to look at themselves and try to figuer out why they need to put you down to make them feel better!!

absolutely not! if you have any questions about body weight and healthy eating please speak to a nutritionist and they will take into account if you are an athelete, your body frame, age, gender and tell you what your specific healthy weight range is.
