Yeah. The big problem is we become addicted to eating. It's nice to hear the compliments, but trust me people carry it too far. They say how good you look, which can make you feel bad about how you used to look.
We really need to start our programs with a strong philosophy that we are doing it for ourselves, and therefore should smile and nod when people give their compliments. They mean well, but we can't let them influence us.
Over the last 14 months, I have lost 140 pounds.
When I was down the first 50, so many people said--you look great, you're not going to lose more, are you? As the weight has continued to come off, I have been called "Bird Legs" by adults. "Don't you ever eat?" ... lots of uncalled for comments like these.
I smile and ignore their comments. They are jealous they can't (won't) do it.
I see my doctor every 3 months, follow 1200 cal diet. and exercise 60 min/day. I am now 9 lbs from the goal my doctor and I set for me.
Where would I be if I listened to the other people? 90 lbs heavier or more.
You have to do it to please yourself. PERIOD.
It's not easy, but it is worth it.

I can tell you what happened to me: When I lost 70 pounds, suddenly everybody started noticing me, and I'm a quiet person. I probably gained the weight I did in the first place because of criticism; I think that my personal thought process was that if people are watching me, sooner or later, I'm going to start getting criticized again, so why bother? I'm not saying that I sat around and thought that - but I'm pretty sure those feelings played a part in my ceasing to lose weight, and gaining some of it back (though fortunately not all).
Note that I'm not saying ANY of this makes sense; I'm just saying that's how it FEELS. I believe there is practically always a psychological reason for weight gain, and laziness or gluttony has little, if anything to do iwth it.

I love the compliments... they make me want to keep losing weight. I hate having to tell people that I have lost weight and then they are all "oh thats great" and then look at me like I am lying.
