I have baseball tryouts tomorrow and the coach makes us do a really long run. I get really easily out of breath and end up running slower than I would if I were walking.

How can I do this run without doing it really slowly and getting out of breath quickly. Also I'm really nervous about it too. Is there a proper running technique or something?

About ten minutes before the long run, take a few deep breaths to get relaxed. think to yourself..."this is no big deal...I just need to go for a nice jog". As all of the "rabbits" sprint out at the start, run a slow and relaxed start. After a few minutes as they drop back, make a game of reeling each one in and passing them. It's fun...and it'll take your mind off of any negative thoughts of discomfort. We all get better with practice, but don't defeat yourself mentally even before you start. Best of luck!

when u start the run out don't start running too fast so that u don't run out of breath , and then just force yourself to keep up throught the rest of the race and breathe nicely drink some fluids before the run and maybe during the run but drink slowly so u don't get a cramp

dont burn yourself out early. find a pace that you can keep up for the entire run, and dont let the guys who sprint out of the starting gate make you blow it.

form - just stay loose. let your feet hit heel first, then roll through your toe. dont pound or slap your feet on the ground. take long, slow breaths, in for 4 paces, out for 4 paces. let your arms hang loose in front of you.
