My brother has allergies and asthma, and he is not highly, but a little bit allergic to dogs. I also have a five year old sister too, so it has to be good with children. Can you find me a dog that fits that criteria, and is cute? If you can, I will choose you as my best answer!

There are various coat types that are said to produce fewer allergens: single-coated dogs, who do not have a thick undercoat; dogs whose coat continues to grow, like human hair, rather than shedding regularly; and hairless dogs. These breeds usually shed less dander and hair and are, therefore, considered hypoallergenic. However, even hairless dogs can produce enough dander to affect a highly allergic person.

Check out a short haired terrier of some kind...Feist, Chihauhau, along that line..they are all cute and the hair won't shed like a longer haired dog obviously...but you still should brush them down 3-4 times a week..to keep the hair from shedding on everything...it will help keep the dander down also...If you are still in doubt after you receive answers here....check with your vet or a local vet...they can tell you of the "less allergic" type of dog to look for......Good Luck......they are wonderful companions....

If he has a problem with that, a poodle is a perfect fit! poodles dont shed at all and do have a drooling issue like some dogs. They are a little prissy sometimes but they are so funny! They do cost a little more than usual dogs to groom! I hope i helped!!

I suffer from allergies miserably. I grew up with Lhasa Apso's and also have had Shih Tzu's. Apparantly, it's dander that people are allergic to and these 2 breeds have more human-like hair...No Dander! They're both adorable, especially as pups. Shih Tzu's tend to be a little smaller but both are no more than 20lbs. and GREAT with kids!

all dogs can cause allergies but some shed less like poodles and hungarian pulis, also some are hairless. ask breeders for there opinion and mabye take your brother to see the dogs and find out if there is a reaction before you buy.

A short hair chihuahua maybe. Whether or not they are good with kids depends on the actual dog though with them. They have lots of energy and personality, and are very cute.
