Has any one read the book or seen the DVD's? (The Measure of A Man) I was wondering what the Authors views are on Moral purity. The work book says that he will teach the difference between temptation and lust....just wondering what his views are, and what he teaches. When it comes to lust, many have quite a difference in what they view as truth.

Arthur_ld, great answer, I agree. My point about the difference in beliefs was referring to some try to say that looking at others and their assets is not a sin as long as you don't take it into a sexual fantasy. While others believe that walking pure means keeping your eyes and mind free from this altogether. You also mentioned that immoral thoughts are a temptation, but in reality immoral thoughts is beyond temptation...it is sin.
We are NOT to have even a hint of sexual immorality in us according to the bible. If we allow our thoughts to linger into immoral thoughts that has already crossed the line.

And no matter the difference of opinion on what truth is, the absolute truth remains as it is. Being tempted is not a sin, but giving in to that temptation is a sin. God allows Satan to tempt us as part of the test. But you must remain vigilant and serious about avoiding any unnecessary temptations. If immoral thoughts are a temptation, are you avoiding the shows, music, Web sites, and other things that trigger them? True commitment to keeping the commandments means we try to live as far from temptation as possible. You may do everything possible to avoid temptations, and yet they will still come. Satan won’t ever give up. But by doing your best to live God’s standards, you’ll be prepared.

I think I read it a long long time ago... is it the one that goes though the character trains required of leaders like deacons and elders form TImothy... if its the one I'm thinking of it was good

there is also a music CD by Clay Aken... not sure if it is related... sometimes Chrstians musicians make a music CD that is a musical version of some other authors book for artistic emphasis of the truth in the book

lust is related to disordered desires... desires are great is directed towards things that are in line with God's will... and everythign good can gorify GOd in a spirit of thankfulness and prayer ... but if desires are misdirected toward thinkgs outside the will of God... it is lust
