When I go welly dancing for the welsh ex pit pony workers, it just seems to muster up some sort of beer yearning and a sit down. Even when I got new wellies and did it for the municipal council workers all it did was send them running shouting out Quick grab the comfy chair, never to return. So I think you may be shaking your bells up the wrong tree.

Well, according to the story in the Old Testament, the dancing of all the priests of Baal weren't enough to call up enough of Baal's demons to ignite a fire on an altar.
Nor do I believe that dancing will exorcise any demons that might have possessed a person.
I believe that dancing CAN illustrate a person's emotions, be they joy, anger, lust, or even sheer boredom.
I believe that if you're dancing lustfully in the company of those whom you find attractive, should any of them find you attractive, you are much more likely to achieve a relationship of lust, than if you don't.
I believe that if you're dancing angrily in the company of those whom you would wish to stir up to anger, you are much more likely to achieve that very purpose.
I also believe that if you dance joyfully in the company of those who are in need of bein cheered up, that you are much more likely to achieve your goal, as well.
I do NOT believe that dancing is of the devil. Nor do I believe that it is a sin to dance. I do believe, however, that it is possible to amplify the iniquity of any sins you do wind up committing by dancing to attract a following.
And I do not accept any kind of excuse about any demons making you do it.

There is a time to dance....
Honestly, some folks see demons everywhere they look...and if you look for them, you will surely find them.
If you are dancing to work out your anger, well...there are worse ways...at least you aren't blowing anything up, yes?
Dancing can be very sexy and seductive. In the right circumstances, why not?
But my favorite is your last one...dance for pure JOY!!

Depends on your mythos. In the few judeo-christian-islamic sects that address the subject, dancing invites the devil. In most more pagan religions, dance is just another tool, which as you say can be used for either purpose.

Dancing (according to certain Christian beliefs) implies a loss of control and therefore opens you up to the risk of demonic poesession.

depends on if you believe in the superstition or not.
You'll notice that in most ballroom dancing (waltz etc) they move round the floor anti-clockwise. It was beliveved that going clockwise could call-up evil spirits etc.

...And it depends on how drunk you are and what you are drinking. Night-train always gets me possessed. The Voodoo do that, but you already know that.
