About 500 on a 1GB card
6MP cameras use between 1.5 to 2.5 MB per picture.
That's if the pictures are set to be saved as JPEGs

How many pictures a camera can take depends upon the amount of memory you have, not what resolution pictures your camera can take. In addition to buying a digital camera you probably need to buy at least 256 MB- 1 GB or memory (about $30 on sale) of memory that is compatible with your camera (there are different types)

It all depend on the memory card you put in it. Megapixil only tells you about the camera's picture resolution quality.

6 megapix with 1 G card its about 300 pictures or so. it also depend the setting on your camera. most camera can set picture quality either fine or basic. if you get 2 G it double the picture quantity and so on...

Troubled,
Some 6.1 megapixel cameras hold one picture in their memories and save them once you put a memory card in.
Other 6.1 megapixel camera's won't even let you shoot if there isn't a card in them.

it is the memory that has the memory not the megapixal. megapixal tell you how good the resolution is. when you buy a memory card make sure it is compatible with you camera
