Do party finger foods. We usually do fruit and veggie platters. crackers, cheese, pepperoni, chips, hot dogs, pizza, cold meat platter with cheeses, get little rolls, mini burgers, french fries. Your son is going to be 3 you could always ask him what he wants to have to eat at his party.
As for games ehres a nice one on NickJr.com it's called pin the sopt on baby jaguar you print it out on a color printer.

My daughter just turned 3 in Feb, and wanted a diego party until last minute... then she decided she wanted sponge bob AGAIN lol.
Everything doesn't HAVE to be Diego... jungle animal plates and whatnot are easy to find these days, the plates are even shaped like the animals heads. I was going do a jungle theme as far as decorations go, lots of green crepe paper and jungle animal balloons/diego balloons (check ebay! I refuse to get balloons anywhere else, they are so dirt cheap and it costs very little to have them filled at your local grocery store or florist). You could get little safari hats for all of the kids, and have vests cut out and ready from construction paper, and have the kids decorate them with jungle themed stickers. The cake has to be Diego though, but any good bakery should have a set.
I have done 3 birthdays for my daughter with purchasing pretty much everything except the cake and food from ebay. It is THE best way to go price wise and variety wise. If you're strapped for time, ebay even has premade gift bags made up that can be personalized with your childs name and whatnot. its all pretty cool and convienient!

My mom throws my little brother amazing parties. Last year he had a "Cars" theme. You really don't have to spend much money. Also, she doesn't keep the little kids for too long. Usually she holds the party for about an hour and a half.
Activities,
* Diego scavenger hunt. Search for little things around the house or the back yard.
* Pin the hat on Diego. Simple enough, but fun for little kids.
* Diego jungle walk. Make, or buy, little jungle animals and set them up for the walk.
* Diego limbo. Especially easy for little kids. Make it look like two trees, and then like a connecter that can go into different spots.
Prizes
* Nothing big, just simple for little kids.
* Because too many party favors get lost, buy one or two semi descent things. Diego book, or Diego coloring book and a small pack of crayons.
* If you still would like to do little party favors, don't do the whole candy things. Buy things like bouncy balls, but not large enough to swallow. Just little fillers.
Food
* Kids don't always like eating, so make it fun. Blue Kool-Aid or Pink Lemonade.
* FINGER FOODS, FINGER FOODS, FINGER FOODS! Hotdogs, hamburgers, or mini pizzas.
** Quick tip, Mini burgers or "pillow dogs" are great for the little ones. Look them up on www.foodnetwork.com
* Instead of cake, try little cupcakes with blue frosting and Diego holders.
Good luck. Parties are tireing, but with these tips, hopefully it will make it easier.

I did this for my son's 3rd birthday last September!! We had a Diego rainforest cake and Diego cupakes. I would recommend the cupcakes if it won't be too many people. I went to nickjr.com and found the recipes, invitation print-outs and even party bag stuff.
For food, I always like pizza. Simple and everyone usually likes it. Good luck! The Nickelodeon website is below!

I have 3 year old twins and for their birthday we had a Diego/Dora party. At the party store I got the decorations both Diego and Dora and party favors too. Then I made a Dora cake, I like making the cake better than buying it, it is more special, I think. I got the cake pan at Michaels that was shaped like Dora, they may have a Diego one.
As for food we had chicken nuggets, my girls favorite food. Then we also had fruit salad, pasta salad, a veggie tray, chips/pretzels and then of course the cake and ice cream.

My son just turned 2 and he had a sponge bob party. We had it at McDonald's so we didn't have to clean up afterward they did that for us. (don't get me wrong, we straightened our area and weren't really messy, but they swept and mopped for us) but we had a cake in the shape of sponge bob (which is probably easier that Dieago b/c he is in the shape of a rectangle/square) we had sponge bob plates, napkins, cups, and blue and yellow silverware. as far as food, it was at mc donald's so we didn't bring any food but the cake. But you could have a fruit tray with bite size fruit and fruit dip. a veggie tray the same way. You could also have a meat and cheese tray with crackers, that is what I served for his 1st birthday and it was good for the kids and the adults. Also u can go to www.noggin.com and get so party ideas and maybe even so Dieago stuff. Hope that helps. Good Luck

birthdayexpress.com has some cute party packs, but for food kids love anything they can eat with fingers. pizza is always a big one with kids parties, hamburgers, hot dogs, fruit, veggies, jello, mac and cheese, just anything quick and easy.
