hey I have had my first 2 tattoos for 5 weeks now and the scab etc has come off and Ive stopped using the cream I was recommended to, but it sometimes becomes itchy and looks like its going to flake, im now using vaseline which makes it lookmuch better during the whole day, how long should you use products on a tattoo after you got it done?

I personally would keep a good mosturizing cream around (maybe in a drawer at work and I would apply it a couple of times a day just to keep the skin over the tattoo from drying out. My new tattoo is ten weeks old but I'm still using a good fragance free aloe based gel on it that seems to be working great. I agree the vaseline gives a tattoo a "bright" appearence but I've been told that petroleum based products shouldn't be used on tattoos.

good luck with your ink

I guess you should atleast use some cream for 2-3 months after taking the tattoo...i got one 4 monts ago...i still put on a thick cream every morning and after shower or bath. When you get a tattoo you have to take care of it or your going to have to redo it after some years to fix the color.

Don't use vaseline. Use a good quality PH balanced moisturizer.

after my tattoo is healed i just care for my skin in a normal way. i don't use anything out of the ordinary. maybe your skin is just looking peely because it is winter? my skin is always more icky during the winter. just be sure to apply moisturising lotion after you get out of the shower to hold in the moisture.
