The less you bath them the better. Generally once every six months unless obviously dirt is plenty. Daily brushing will keep his coat healthy and clean otherwise.

Overbathing will cause dry itchy skin. Dry itchy skin can lead to skin infections. Also bathing strips the dogs coat of natural oils, overbathing will put the dogs skin into overload to make more oil. This can lead to more doggie odor.

That is dependant on several things: Does he like baths? Is he stinky? I have a pug that sheds like crazy and has itchy skin so I give him a bath weekly with a special shampoo, he LOVES bathtime! I also have a Yorkie that has no doggie smell at all, but Yorkies fur is almost human like and has to be kept clean and brushed, so she also gets a bath when the pug does. I prefer to clip their nails after their bath too because they are softer after being in the water. I bath them weekly but always use a gentle shampoo. You can either buy one specifically for dogs that says gentle or use Johnsons Baby Shampoo. If you bathe him frequently like I do, you don't want to dry out or irritate his skin, using the gentle shampoo will help. Have fun!

Unless he gets into something nasty, there is no need to bathe a dog any more than once a month. Between baths, you can keep him clean with a good brushing. If you bathe him too often, you can cause dry skin problems.

If you bath your dog more than once a month, winter or summer, you're going to be drying out his skin and coat terribly. Once a month is plenty for a dog, or less if they don't need it.

dogs have natural oil in there skin and when u wash the dog to many times it takes the oil out and makes them ichy and dry so i would say once a month in the summer and once every two or so months in the winter
