When I want to shut down my Windows XP computer, it says that it is installing 7 updates and to not press anything. The thing is that it does this everytime I shut it down and never actually finishes the updates so every time I shut it down it does this. I think they are Microsoft Office updates. How can I cancel or stop these updates?

If your Control Panel is in the XP Category View:
Go to:
Start> Control Panel> Security Center> Automatic Updates> Click the "Turn Off Automatic Updates" bullet> Click 'Apply'> Click 'OK'

In the Classic View:
Start> Control Panel> Automatic Updates> Click "Turn Off Automatic Updates" bullet> click 'Apply'> click 'OK'
