I want to have a hinged loft hatch, although I think my existing loft hatch is too big!
Can I decrease the existing hatch opening??

Just studwork the existing one to the size you require , then plasterboard and plaster !!

a joiner will point you in the right direction...its easier to shrink a hatch than expand one..good luck

You can make it smaller, but you may struggle getting things into the loft in future.
