How can a woman live with a man unmarried for almost 20 yrs and not want children?

I know a girl that has done this. The man she lives with says this has never been an issue for her. Is this her man talking and making the decision for her? I knew another woman that did not have children and then when it was too late she wished she had, but at least she married her man. I don't understand this. It seems kind of empty.

I just recently divorced after being married for 20 years. I too, chose to not have children. It wasn't due to lack of love for my husband or desire for parenting. It just seemed like the timing was never right or some other fulfillment centered my life. I have no regrets. I know that there are many children out there just waiting for a loving home if I ever decide to go the route of adoption. I love being around children and always seem to be buying gifts for the children of my friends. But basically, it's all to do with a person's choice and what makes that person happy! : )

As far as letting the man make the decision, I agree that she is a fool.

But if she didn’t want children, by her own decision, then she is pretty damn smart. Having children is a BAD idea. I don’t see why people would bother. There are not enough schools, roads, and jobs to support more children.

Its a preference and different people prefer different things. She may not want to get married because it may not mean to her the same thing it means to other people. The trust and respect involved with marriage is diminishing in my opinion. And some people just choose not to have children. I don't think there is anything wrong with what she is choosing. If she gets "too old to have children" and then she decides she wants one, she can still have a child through adoption or some other choice of method

I had three children and love them dearly but i do have a sister who has been with the dame man for years and now married and I envey them because it was their chose not to have children and they have so much happyness and do so much together.
don't miss understand me I would never have wanted to change my life but now a days it cost so much to have a family and with out children you can up and travel when ever you want come and go when ever you want children are a great responsibility. The raising them schooling them and now with all the drugs out thee in the world and the types of people it is hard and I for one look up to those who chose not to have a child . also think of all the children being born and abandoned by the mothers who don't want them so who suffers the poor child.
