I've been told some dogs can go as late as 1-2 years but my Jack Russell went in at 9 months and her baby went in at 1 year. So all dogs and breeds differ a little bit.

My dog came into heat about 8 and a half months old, and then about every 8-9 months after that. (American Pit Bull Terrier)

Average age is about 6 monthes, but dogs as do people all have different body chemistry so it's kinda hard to tell. It can be really hard to predict when they're young, but as they age you'll know when to expect her to go into heat.

it depends on the breed of the dog... usually start puberty around 6months and last up til they are year old... my girl didn't come into heat until she was little over 9months old

Dogs go into their first heat at around 6 months of age and repeatedly every six months thereafter. So please be responsible: spay and neuter your pets!
