Neons are pretty good values for their price. If i was in that price range and size class, i'd say they are OK cars. Id also look at either hyundai elantra or suzuki forenza. Both have excellent ratings, and come with nice warranties. A lot of the Neons we see have minor issues. I have not seen many issues or problems ever with Hyundai or suzuki, especially since they have that long warranty.
Another tip i can give you is to check out a former rental car. They have good maintinence histories, and most companies know the liability of selling a lemon to the public. Its as close to a "no lemon" gurantee as you are going to get. Also, they are usually priced very fairly, if not better than most dealerships. Some companies have set prices so you dont hav eto fuss with a salesman... There are several companies out there. Try www.enterprisecarsales.com for a start.
Good luck!

I would suggest you do some research around the Dogde Neon at www.edmunds.com Click on the 'Research Used Cars" link in the blue section on the main page.
I'd also make sure to read the Model Review, Consumer Reviews, and the Consumer Discussion. This should give you an all around impression on the vehicle. Just keep in mind that the good reviews will seem really, really good and the bad reviews will see just god-awful, so take them as a whole as opposed to individually.
You can also use the site to consider vehicles in a similar price range.
Hope this helps.

Neons are good, reliable and gas mileage getting cars. Unfortunately the service from dealerships are horrible. They love to make service engine soon lights come on a few miles down the road so you have to come back.
I would get one as long as you have a private car repair shop to take care of your needs. If you still have some doubts check them out at:

noo! I have had so many friends with neons and they totally suck they're unreliable and their crash ratings aren't the best. If you can't afford a honda civic I would try the next best thing which would be a ford focus. I hope you don't think I'm being an opiniated cow, I've known so many of my friends with these to break down (I'm usually the one to rescue them) and another aspect is their resale value totally blows. Go to cars.com and go into the "research cars" part, it's very informitive,I hope it helps you!

Honestly I wouldn't go with a Dodge. Maybe look into a Mitsubishi Lancer or a Honda Civic. They are both smaller, cheaper cars that will last you.
