Why do people who claim evolution is stupid, associate evolution with the big bang? They're two different ideas. http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?chanID=sa003&articleID=000D4FEC-7D5B-1D07-8E49809EC588EEDF&pageNumber=1&catID=2

Not everybody who doesn't believe in god believes that evolution occurred. (only the ones who believe scientific evidence) Not everybody who believes evolution occurred believes the big bang occurred.

Because they rely on what their minister tells them or what they read on creationist websites. They are too lazy to actually read anything on their own to find out exactly what they are bashing.

I believe that the assumption is being made that if evolution occurred, it also needs some type of a start for the cosmos. So people tie the two together.
Its generally excepted that Christians say God created both the cosmos and life. All though the Big bang and Evolution may be two different ideas, people generally except that evolution is dependent on the Big bang.

Consider all of the (untested) hypotheses that they have within their religion. Since this version of fundamentalist routinely views everyone through the lense of their faith, they assume that the rest of us all operate under their same principles.
To them, the trinity, resurrection, heaven, etc are all intimately interconnected. Therefore in their minds, evolution, the big bang and atheism are all interconnected as well.
They're wrong, but they don't like to hear that.

OF all theories in science none take away more Power from G-d than those two( in the minds of Christians at least), thus they are continuously related together.
Let's hope they never get to the hiesenberg uncertainty principle and quantum mechanics.

Religion can not normally be taken piecemeal, like science can. In matters of faith, the beleiver is supposed to accept all of the tenets of their system, or none. To those who think in such terms, it is hard to grasp that you can accept some scientific theories and reject others.
They probably lump these particular two because they both contradict a literal interpretation of teh bible.

They go after everything that contradicts the Bible. And they lump everyone who doesn't believe in it together.

OK,, show me just one thing that has evolved in the last 500 years.
that should be plenty of time.
answer: you can't because it doesn't happen. nothing ever has or ever will evolve. only diminish into extinction.
