What is up with the jealous, controlling men who only want women with a low self-esteem?
I would like to state, for the record, that I do not think that I am 'all that' - but I do not have a low self-esteem.
The past two guys I have shown interest in, beause I thought they were nice & funny, have told me they had 'nothing to offer me' then wind up going out with women who they want to control.
Guy #1 is 27 now with a 52 year old woman (20 years our elder), who has been through menopause and has a son older than us.
Guy #2 is with a girl who just got off some heavy drug use and needs a crutch right now.
I do not now the woman in #1's situation. But #2's girlfriend & I are friends and he distrusts her a lot - not wanting her to work or go anywhere without him.
I know I dodged some bullets! but I am curious, why do guys want to control women like this?

because they're insecure themselfs, and fear loosing the person they're with,i checked out ur 360 pro ,you dont look that bad hun buy thongs feel good about yourself!

I think it just depends on the guy. There are some weird ones out there. I dated one who didn't want me going to the gym or spending time with my family. He wanted to be with me all the time..no breathing room. He got mad when I babysat my nephew for my sister one night and we were all going to a Halloween hayride with kids and friends anyway. He wouldn't let me come because I had my nephew. I'm outta that and the first sign of anyone trying that on me again, would be outta my life real quick. I'm not sure if they think you are gonna do something behind their back, or if it's low self esteem on their part or what their issue is. The only thing I know is you are right you dodged the bullet. Be thankful!

The truth is brutal: When I was younger and dated more often, I looked for two things when dating women:
1. Low self-esteem,
and
2. They hated their Fathers.
Why? Because I knew that these are the most important factors in getting a (young, single) woman into bed. I've repented, and I am above that now, but unfortunately there are still innumerable guys that think like that. (And if you can't even manipulate a girl into which movie you're both going to see, how can you expect to control the sexual aspects of the relationship?)

It's actually a mental disorder, "Savior Syndrome" or something to that effect. They will get into a relationship, because they think they are needed, and when they are no longer needed, they toss the women away like last weeks garbage, and the cycle begins anew. It's sad, those kind of men are the ones with the really low esteem issues, and they try to find women more screwed up than they are, to make them look normal.

I think it's just in their personalities. They are control-freaks and because they can't control a woman who can stand up for herself and come back at him, so he moves on or learns to start relationships with women that are self concious with a low self esteem.
Another thing I've noticed with these types of men, is that they also tend to be arrogant and conceited as well.
One last thing, women can also be controlling in the same way, only with low self esteem men. Hope this helps!

proble because they have low self esteem. Other words they are whimps. Think about it if I guy was to act that way infront of there mothers what would really happen. Just remember don't ever let anyone controll you but your parent. You are a human being .

some guys and woman to have this savior mentality. and they just are compeled to help and fix someone. i used to be that way till i got burned one to many times. now i only help those who help themselves. cause why go down with there burning ship.

i don't know. i think you should avoid them. you may be one of those people that attract to controlling men subconsiously because if those are your only two candidates you need to look elsewhere because neither one of those would make a good boyfriend.
