I'm just wondering because my 22 month has just astonished me by doing about 4 forward rolls without being shown how to do it...how many other parents have seen their young children doing this and at what age?

they can start very young. your child is almost 2 yrs old and well on his/her way to doing even more exciting tricks!! my baby has is now 3.5 and has been on a trampoline since he was 13 months and loves it. he does jumps, cherry bombs, splits, will jump into the air and land on his back. he also has been doing summer salts since he was 1.5 yrs old. my other son was 25 months when he started riding a bike without training wheels but my little guy who is 3.5 barley can ride a tricycle. it is just up to the child and how much they are given an opportunity to explore this great big world and shown the how to's on life. enjoy every moment and have your camera ready always so you can capture the moment.

It depends a lot on how the kid is built. My three year old grand can't do it because she is long from the hip up. She can walk her feet clear up to her head and she still doesn't roll over. It's really strange. However she has been able to spell her name since her second birthday. MALLORY. Now she can spell her sister's SAIGE. What kids do and how they develop is a hoot. You just never know. The kids I feel sorry for are the ones who have to go to Kindergarten too young. When my friend had her son my son was 11 months old and walking. When her son was one and just walking my son was tearing around at break neck speed on his hot wheels. When time came for my kid to go to school, mine had been 5 since the previous Sept and her has just turned five in August. In our state kids go when they are five but there is such a difference in how developed that it's ridiculous. It's really good that you are working with your little one. You sound like a very good and justly proud mommy. Good Luck and God Bless

i work at a daycare and i have kids who are 18 months that are starting to do forward rolls. they just started to do that a few weeks ago. i think it has to do with how developed they are and what they want to try.
