Is it just me or is Target way better? Target has nicer things and the layout is nicer and it's better ventiliated. I even wear clothes from Target..

I'm from Canada now living in the US and Walmart and Target were both kinda unfamilar to me so I'm just learning about it. I think we may have had Walmart but it wasn't popular there.

I live in the Twincities area in Minnesota, USA and we have plenty Target and Walmart stores in the surrounding cities.Target has more sophisticated items, .....well...... for quite average prices. Walmart has good items for cheaper prices. Which do I prefer? Target, because I am a picky person, and I actually have taste in selecting certain items to purchase. I buy Target clothes and home decors. I just moved into my first apartment and most of my home goods are from Target. Walmart has some stores that sell produce however, so when you can get those for cheaper prices, why not get them at Walmart?
In short, I will make purchases at Walmart, of items that I know are cheaper than they are at Target, especially when they are the exact same item.

I prefer Target. It's true that WalMart is dirt cheap. But their employees work their behinds off for crappy money. I went in for an interview there and changed my mind quickly about working there. For all the work they wanted me to do they were going to have to pay more then what they were offering.

I don't know about anywhere else but down here Target and Walmart is about the same price wise. But Walmart is so low class. They don't even attempt to make the place look nice. The aisles are too close together and you have to wait for the people in the aisle to move so you can get what you need. People everywhere and little kids running around. Clothes off the racks and half empty shelves.

Target stores are always so CLEAN. Shiny floors. And no matter how full it is there is always this quiet calm about the place. I have never walked into a Target where it's messy. It's always so nice and well lit. And they are really good about opening registers.

There are more Walmarts then Targets though. So when I need something in a hurry I do go to Walmart because it's closer. But on the weekends when I have more time I go to Target. It's like a treat.

I'm from Canada a few years back. No need to go to Walmart. Target has everything you need plus it's a pleasant experience going there.

Target aims at a more youthful client. WalMart aims at a wider aged client base.

I agree, Target is a nicer appearing store, WalMart is a jumble, but not as bad as they used to be!!

Target has higher quality shoes and clothing, but for everything else, WalMart's prices, quality and service are better.

In my experience, Target's employees are most unhelppful and even discourteous, while generally WalMart's employees are more knowledgeable and courteous. They also tend to work for the store a lot longer, so I feel they most be better paid, trained, and valued by corporate.

Target's return policy is ridiculous. Even if something is "Target" brand, they won't take it back without a receipt. Even you are successful returning something, they are surly about it, whereas at WalMart they are just as kind when you're returning, as when you are buying.

Just my $.02, but I have shopped at both of these stores fairly regularly for around 12 years.

Let me tell you that first of all Target is way better than Wal Mart. You can get for example a blouse at Target for 12.99, but you can get a same shirt in Walmart for 12.99 and wouldn't be as intricate and fashionable.

Since I work in the Garment business I hate both. They are both a pain in the azz. The clothing for both is subpar. Trust me I know. You can get whatever they sell at either from Ross or Marshalls at one point or another for a fraction of the price. As for decorating, I like Ikea.

Walmart has more, but Target has better stuff. Its quantity vs. quality.
