When I give my dog a bath (he's a chihuahua and he's 3) he stands in the water scared but he doesn't try to jump out. When I'm done washing him he jumps out and then I drie him with a towle. When I open the bathroom he goes crazy. He runs around my house and jumps on the furniture and rubs on the back. When i go to pick him up he runs away, but as if we were playing. Does your dog do anything like this to?

My dog doesn't act scared in the bath tub, he just acts miserable. When he gets out he loves to be dried off because it's like I'm petting him. When I let him out of the bathroom he also runs around and acts really excited and rolls on the carpet and furniture. I think they're trying to get the excess water off. I have a rottweiler, not a chihuahua... he's 6 and about 100 pounds. I wish I could turn him into a chihuahua when it's bath time!

Both of my dogs do this too,one is a maltese the other is a pit bull. They do this whether I bathe them at home, take them to the local dog wash or bring them to the groomer. The second they get done or come in the house they run around like mad rubbing all over the funiture. I was thinking they were trying to get their pre-bath scent back on them, but I can only guess. I just love to watch them speed around the house rubbing on everything and dodging me. I thought my two were the only ones that did this.

until eventually your dogs has a medical condition, you actually shouldn't bathe more suitable than once each 2 weeks on the most. ideally it should not be more suitable than once each 4 weeks (so, once a month...regardless of the truth that breeds like westies or poodles or schnauzers who do not shed may do properly to be bathed each 2-3 weeks because the airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dirt and oil truly boost in the journey that they flow too lengthy between baths). established bathing, regardless of ordinary cleansing soap, usually strips the oils from the dogs coat and really dries their epidermis out that could cause them to itchy and flaky. usually, dogs with seasonal/environmental hypersensitive reactions income from getting a bath once a week. And there are some epidermis situations which will income from being bathed more suitable usually than once a week (at the moment my hypersensitive reaction dogs is getting bathed each 4 days because he has patches of epidermis that are threatening to develop into contaminated and my vet could favor to address it topically...ie bathing with medicated shampoo and conditioner...quite than placed him on antibiotics). besides the undeniable fact that, if you're bathing your dogs more suitable usually than once a month you actually favor to be utilizing a conditioner formulated for dogs to boot as an particularly ordinary shampoo.

sometimes, what you can do is NOT fill the tub with water but give him like a "shower" where you buy one of those sprayers that attaches to the shower head pipe. That gets him less wet (some dogs dont like to be wet) Also make it a positive experience to get a bath say" good boy" and give a few treats. that will tie bath with good. Hope I could help!

Mine is known to get the zoomies occasionally after a bath. I think some smaller breeds are more prone to this reaction to being damp and feeling cold. No faster way to warm up than run like a bat outta *&%$#.

Sit back and have a laugh.

I have a 90 lb shepard who when bathed will rub against the furniture or alternatively shake water all along furniture/clean laundry. At least yours is little :)

Towel dry him and use a blow dryer on low setting before you open the bathroom door. He's just trying to get dry.
