Yes, I like Roseburg, but I'm a family man and I appreciate the quality of life a smaller community provides.
If I were 22 and single, I'd hate Roseburg. Kids leave in droves, but many come back to raise a family.
There are several clear advantages to Roseburg:
1. You are on the Interstate 5 corridor with easy access to Eugene (one hour), Medford (two hours), the Oregon Coast (less than two hours); Crater Lake and Diamond Lake ski areas and hiking parks (less than two hours);
2. There's ample outdoor activities. The North Umpqua River is one of the top 20 fly fishing areas in the U.S. The Diamond Lake Highway offers skiing, mountain climbing, hiking, camping, etc.
3. The cost of living (housing rent or purchase) is at least 20% cheaper than Medford.
4. The weather is temperate. Roseburg gets its share of rain, but not like Portland or Astoria. The summers are warm, but not blazing hot and muggy like Medford and Klamath Falls.

Yes, I do!
Mostly I love the weather in summer and fall. Hot days, warm evenings, not too many bugs and mosquito's. It's a rather pleasant town for the size, has all the amenities, though not as culturally rich as I would like. Convenient access to I-5. It's a nice compromise between larger cities and rural. Also, I think the Umpqua is one of Oregon's most beautiful rivers!
